Im a person with dreads. And i have found that ever since the first day i've had dreads back in june 2003 (6yrs) I have been judged by society. And this isnt always a positive judgement.
After surveying 50 other people with dreads in perth West Australia, I have come to a conclusion that 92 % of the people i surveyed said they have felt that they have been judged based purely on their appearance. STEREOTYPING!
As an example I have had people walk away from me at atm's, I have had my money checked for authenticity (counterfit notes), been random drug tested, turned down from employment, had white colar workers call me a "MONKEY" on a work site (hahaha i laugh at that one - still it aint cool)........... These are just a few axamples of situations i deal with on a daily basis.
Hey im not bitching here, its my choice to have dreads and i love em. But my point is, that it is my choice to have dreads and because i chose a radical hair style it does not then throw me into some stereotyped group. People with dreads come in all sorts, and thats what im trying to convey. Im gona break the stereotypes and re educate the masses and built a more positive image.
Have a look, and tell me what you think of the first two trailers for the film?
