In late September, Zack de la Rocha, former lead singer of radical rock band Rage Against the Machine, received a “notice of unlicensed operation” from the FCC.
The FCC alleges that a pirate radio signal was coming from de la Rocha’s LA home– 104.7FM, a signal that often rebroadcasts the anti-corporate internet station Kill Radio (my old stomping grounds).
No word on whether or not the signal was actually coming from de la Rocha’s home, or whether or not he has complied with the FCC’s order to shut it down. If I had to take a guess, it would be that 104.7 has found a new home by now.
“Guerrilla Radio” indeed.
