If anyone has good program that converts AVI's to MPEG's, let me know.

tmpgenc is prob your best bet, pretty sure it converts avi to mpeg (just click download at the top)

You can get a free trial of WinMPG there, and if you want help hosting the file to share it, I've still got tonnes of bandwidth

the free trials of programs like this often put a screeching noise every so often in the recording...

I used WinMPG and registered it without buying, then I ripped it and it came out perfect.

The sound was horrible to begin with, so just let me know where to upload it too.

I have some (hopefully) proper software, full version now, as far as I know, from a friend. I'll pm you details about the FTP too

Yeah it's the program, I had a check on the website and the trial versions are that big, and since you only need a code for the full version, the full version is that big. As far as I know the program I have is the full version, and please virus scan it first
