I'm really considering getting the same dreadlocks as Zack, but just dunno:
How to get 'em made..
do his type of dreads have a speciel name or sumthing? I mean, if I'm gonna get 'em made at a shop.
how thick would you say his dreads is? approx.

thx and don't mind the bad grammar or spelling, I'm foreign =)

There isn't a special name, just different ways of starting them. I don't have locks myself but I have plenty of friends and a few family members that do and my sister is in the process of locking her hair. If you go to a shop (recommended) tell your loctician what you want and he/she should be able to work with you.

I don't think you can get Zack's exact size because locs get bigger with age. Normally, we get rid of the hair we shed but when you have dreads it stays inside the loc.

Locs are matted hair. What would happen naturally to everyones hair if you stopped combing it.

There are basically two ways. You can freeform which means you don't palm roll or twist your hair. You just separate it at the root and allow the process to occur naturally. A lot of people with irregular dread locs (big ones, small ones, flat ones and round ones, all on the same head) started their locs through this process.

When you cultivate locs, you twist your hair regularly to encourage the locing process. You can also make your locs the same size. It looks very uniform and neat. People start locs with braids, twists, coils, etc. But if you want to freeform you don't have to do that. It will happen on it's own. When you're cultivating locs, visiting your loctician about once a month is necessary.

Looking at Zacks early pictures, I'm almost certain he started his with a two-strand twist. You just wrap two strands of hair around each other. But depending on your hair texture that might not be the best method for you. I would advise that you see a loctician.

I doubt I could ever get locs at all....my hair is so damn thin I'd probably need Rogaine....and plus, I live with da folks, so they won't approve....ohno.gif
I like my short, spiky cropped hair....happy.gif

Anyone can dread their hair regardless of race or texture. Straighter hair does take a little longer though. It can take up to 2 years. I will post a few pictures of various hair types with dreads. smile.gif

This is why I think Zack started it with a two-strand twist. If you look closely you can see his hair kind of has a rope look to it. That's how they look. His hair is not completely locked in this picture.

peace,

I have Asian hair (stick straight and jet black) but I dyed it so many times already. Right now it's a brassy medium brown with black roots. tongue.gif It's bluntly cut.....

Not sure what you mean. You can't dread hair overnight, it takes time. There are sprays, bees wax and other sticking agents you could use to speed up the process a bit. But I also hear they damage the hair.
