I think I felt all 3 at some point throughout the film.

I wanted to reply to something that was said earlier in the thread. Why wasn't England's part more deeply discussed? I think he was trying to keep it just about this country to get the ideas to reach more people. If he took a more International view point, a lot of people may have reacted negatively. It may have also given the impression that there was an international coalition, when the coaltion is a joke.

However, my family is all English. I keep track of what is going on there. They are NOT happy. Blair's days are numbered. Any one who has read, or checked out the BBC knows this. There media may be smaller, but it less influenced by one side and there for, more moderate. It may not be liked by many here, but it has actually lead to a more balanced political arena. If he showed the opinions from the English people, it may have helped his case, by showing that you can think differently, and have opinions that are not entrentched in fear.

Then again, a lot of people in the "heartland" of America (like where I am sitting right now) would have dissmised them as pansy Brits, who are just salty over the Revolutionary war. As crazy as it sounds, that has been used against my parents on a few occasions.

Even though I haven't seen it Micheal Moore always pisses me off.

Same here.

From what I've read in this thread, Micheal Moore didn't tell any lies in his film, or atleast non ones mentioned as such, whereas in another forum I post in there are constant attacks on his integrity. Did Moore tell any lies in the film?

^ The only thing is that one of the Senators said that he did send his son in. But I don't know why they need to jump on that. Really, the media does what they can to swing the news their way all the time, anyway.

One of the stupidest things I've heard is that Moore lied about the Saudi Arabia situation. I didn't read it, but defiance told me about it. It was on a link on the Humanitarian, I think.

it should be out on dvd within the next month or two... ermm.gif i know it'll be out before the election...

i took two girls i knew from school to go see it and they say theyre definetly going to make it out to vote fore kerry on election day, so that was worth the three ticket prices... if i had anymore money id keep taking people who hadnt seen it to the movie laugh.gif

another idea of mine:

i really want to buy up a bunch of copies of it when it comes out on dvd and video, and hand them out to random people that havent seen it.. just an idea, i think thatd be pretty cool..

I think most people felt that way. I dunno, I can't help wondering that perhaps Mike didn't mention Britain much becuase he wanted to make the point that the coalition was just the US and a load of 'insignificant' countries. He also failed to mention Spain, and Australia I think.

I know what you mean about handing out copies of the film, people do need to know what is really going on. As for the 'Blairs days are numbered' claim, well I live in the UK, and I wouldn't be surprised if he won the next election. People over here just don't take enough interest in politics and what is going on in the world.

The best example I can give you of this is when I was talking about Faranheit 9/11 at work, with all the staff who were on their break. One of the staff said 'Man, 9/11 was wicked' (as in the date not the film), to which I replied, 'Why?'. 'Because it was about the Middle East getting back the the US'. Whilst this was pretty horrifying, I had heard this argument before, so I replied 'How did the death of 3,000 innocent people get back at the US Government?'

At this point, the conversation was getting rather heated. A 17 year old girl stopped us in our tracks by saying 'Chill out, it's only a film'. doh.gif cry.gif

To me, this really typifies a lot of the English public. They don't know what is going on, and they don't want to know. As soon as you mention anything politically controversial, even your own family sigh and just assume you're being controversial for the sake of it. I get compared (by my brother) to Lisa Simpson all the time, because she has views on everything and he annoys her. Why are people so adverse to hearing the truth?

QUOTE
Why are people so adverse to hearing the truth?

"Thats a good question, but it is also one which the vast, overwhelming majority of people reject from their minds on initial contact...but how about new or unfamiliar information that comes to our minds? How do we cope with knowledge that is not immediatly "acceptable" to our mental computers? In most cases our highly developed, extremely sensitive mental "defense mechanisms" spring into action and flood our minds with 1001 apparently logical "reasons" why we should follow the path ofleast resistance and dispence with the new truth at the earliest possible moment. Truth is seldom if even found in any one place." - Fourth Reich of the Rich, Des Griffin p.1

I also really encourage people to read this book!
