Marcos: Our word is our weapon

Somewhere between the passionate analysis of Ricardo Flores Magon, and the poetic fury of Eduardo Galeano, lie these most powerful and essential communiques of the new Mexican Revolution. Possibly the most influential collection of writings upon my musical and political perspective. —Zack de la Rocha, Rage Against the Machine

Two friends of mine who got married recently asked the wedding guests to give them a copy of their favourite book (rather than tacky white goods). I got them Our Word Is Our Weapon, as it's a complete killer. Inciteful, inspiring, funny, intelligent in equal measure. It deserves to be widely read.

Pretty much any of the letters from the Beneath the Mask section. I'm sure all the anecdotes have a deeper meaning, but I can't work them out.

I want to read it, whenever I get time. I have to read a ton of novels for my English class, and the teacher only lets us read books off of this list she gave us... wacko.gif
